ESPN NASCAR analyst Ray Evernham has married race car driver Erin Crocker. A representative for the former team owner says the two were married Wednesday in a small ceremony at the Southpoint Hotel.

Crocker was a development driver for Evernham until the two began a romantic relationship. Evernham sold majority interest in his race team two seasons ago to George Gillett Jr., and now holds just a small share of what has since merged into Richard Petty Motorsports.

NASCAR has suspended a crew member for Nationwide Series driver Boris Said for violating the organization’s substance abuse policy.

NASCAR says in a release Wednesday that Mark Norman also was banned indefinitely for actions detrimental to stock car racing.

Norman becomes the seventh crew member suspended this season under NASCAR’s toughened drug policy. Jeremy Mayfield is the only driver to be suspended since NASCAR began random testing this year.

Three-time reigning NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson has donated $150,000 in grants to four Charlotte-area school systems.

The grants will be available to schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Mooresville, Cabarrus County and Iredell-Statesville school systems.

The grants will come through the Lowe’s “Toolbox for Education” program. Lowe’s is the primary sponsor of Johnson’s No. 48 Chevrolet.

Johnson and his wife, Chandra, have launched similar programs in their hometowns of El Cajon, Calif.
