Ron Hornaday Jr., held off a late challenge from Mike Skinner to win the AAA Insurance 200, making him the first driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to win four consecutive races.

Hornaday, the three-time series champion, had won at Milwaukee, Memphis and Kentucky. Hornaday and Skinner ran side-by side several times in the final laps on Friday, but Hornaday held on.

Kyle Busch says he’ll try to keep his emotions in check as he tries to move up the Sprint Cup standings.

The NASCAR star, speaking at a news conference Friday, says he’ll try to be a more positive influence heading into Sunday’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Busch barked over the radio at his No. 18 Toyota team members during a disappointing 33rd place finish in Chicago two weeks ago, calling his car “junk.

An appeals court has ruled in NASCAR’s favor, granting its request to keep Jeremy Mayfield off the race track.

The decision Friday by the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals means Mayfield is once again suspended for failing a May 1 random drug test.

A federal judge lifted the driver’s suspension July 1, and NASCAR appealed to the appeals court in Richmond, Va. That court issued a stay until the appeal can be heard.

Chip Ganassi says he counseled Danica Patrick to finish all her IndyCar goals before moving to NASCAR.

Patrick has not ruled out NASCAR for next season and recently visited several race shops in North Carolina.

Ganassi, who owns teams in IndyCar, NASCAR and Grand-Am, says he spoke with Patrick recently for about an hour to discuss her goals.

Jimmie Johnson wants to air things out with Kurt Busch.

Busch, however, doesn’t appear to be in any hurry to make nice with the three-time defending NASCAR champion.

Johnson says he sent Busch a text message following their dustup at Chicago two weeks ago, but never heard back.

The two stars were battling near the lead late in the race when Johnson collided with Busch, who in turn appeared to intentionally turn back into Johnson.
