Juan Pablo Montoya offered some friendly advice to IndyCar star Danica Patrick, a free agent who could possibly opt to jump to NASCAR in 2010.

“I think she’s got the talent and everything, but I don’t think she knows what she’s getting into,” Montoya said when asked how Patrick would do if she made the move from open-wheel racing to stock cars, as he has done.

NASCAR Sprint Cup points leader Tony Stewart has crashed his primary car in practice at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The two-time series champion crashed hard on Friday during the opening practice for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301, badly damaging his No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet.

Stewart was not injured. The team quickly prepared his backup car and Stewart was able to get back onto the 1.058-mile oval for some practice before Friday’s qualifying for the race Sunday.

Jeremy Mayfield denied Thursday ever taking methamphetamines, doesn’t know how he failed a random drug test and said his indefinite suspension from NASCAR has ruined his driving career.

Mayfield’s denial comes in an affidavit that was among several hundred pages of documents filed by his attorneys in U.S. District Court. He’s been suspended since May 9 for failing a random drug test conducted eight days earlier at Richmond International Raceway.
